Officials headed by Deputy Food and Safety Officer, Thanga Vignesh raided in multiple tourist destinations in Coonoor, Nilgiris district, on Tuesday. During the raid, it was found that adulterated tea and snacks like chips, jelly, soft drinks, water bottles were sold beyond expiry date.
The officials informed that eating food products that have crossed the expiry date could lead to several health issues like nervous disorder, cancer, and kidney damage.
The shops were warned and fine upto Rs. 30,000 was imposed. Later, all the seized adulterated food items were destroyed.
