Coimbatore: In a press conference held at a private hotel here on Tuesday, Taste of Coimbatore 2020 Chairman, President Balachander informed, "We have planned to set-up 140 stalls at the upcoming food festival to be held between January 10-12 on CODISSIA road, on Avinashi road, here."

He added that Minister SP Velumani, District Collector, City Police Commissioner and Corporation Commissioner will be attending the event which will host a variety of entertainment programs, as well. "Traditional and Cultural sports like Silambattam, Jamaab, Poikalkuthirai, Mayilattam, Oyilattam will enthrall the spectators", he told the reporters.

Briefing on the itinerary, the Association's President said that "The event is held as part of the ongoing Kovai Vizha. On all three-day of the food festival, live musical events and programs have been planned. Performance by musician Stephen Devassy, playback singers Anuradha Sriram and Divakar will add liveliness to the food festival. A cooking demo by popular Chef Damu is also scheduled, as part of the event."
He informed that last year, 50,000 people attended the food festival and a total of Rs. 5 crore turnover was recorded. And, this year, they expect a footfall of atleast 70,000 people and a bigger turnover. As a noble gesture, 300 children from various orphanages will be provided free food, he added.
Tickets for the food festival will be available through BookMyShow, App and also at the venue of the festival from 1 pm to 11 pm on all three days of the festival. The admission fee is Rs.120 for adults and free for children. An adult can enjoy most of the food items at Rs. 150 per head, the organisers said.
Hotel Owners Association, District Secretary, Sivakumar, Executive member Vivek Srinivasan and Treasurer Balaji were also present during the press briefing.
