80% DMK Alliance, 8% Independent Members and 12% AIADMK Members have won in the local body elections in the Nilgiris District.
While the DMK has gained over 80 percent of the seats in the Nilgiris in the recent local body polls, Bhagyalakshmi competed as an independent candidate and won in the Upathalai Panchayat.
C. Bhagyalakshmi won with the most votes, 1319, amongst the 6 panchayats in the Nilgiris district. She is the daughter of V. Chidambaram, ex-Panchayat Union President for the past ten years.
Addressing the media, Bhagyalakshmi admitted that her father taught her good deeds to serve the society.
She said that focus would be laid on critical issues like road facilities, water issue and man-animal conflict. Along with her, 15 other female councillors also took oath, today.
