Coimbatore: Vaikunda Ekadasi is celebrated in the Tamil month of Margazhi, every year. Accordingly, this year Vaikunda Ekadasi Festival started on the 27th of last month with the ten-day festival of Thirumozhi Thirunal.

Being a popular Vaishnava temple in Coimbatore, since morning, thousands of devotees gathered at the 1000-year-old Karamadai Aranganathar Temple located near Mettupalayam, Coimbatore.
Subsequently, verses of Nalayira Divya Prabandham composed by 12 Alwars were sung in praise of Aranganatha Perumal by Nallansakravarthi Swamigal and Sudarsana Pattar Swamy.
Following this, special poojas and decorations were made to main deity and the temple opened its gates by 4 am.
Then, Aranganatha Swami with his consorts Sri Devi and Bhoomi Devi came around the Sanctorum and was placed in front of Sri Andal's shrine for the devotees to gain blessings. Then, at 5.30 am, the Paramapada Vasal, also known as the Sorga Vasal was opened and devotees worshipped Aranganatha Perumal, the deity which is believed to have appeared infront of Nammavalvar, Ramanujar and Thirumangayavar in front of the Sorga Vaasal.
Seeing the deity at the Sorga Vaasal, the devotees chanted "Govinda Govinda" and worshipped Aranganathar. A large number of devotees attended the event. Annadhanam and several other spiritual events are scheduled to take place through the day.
Security has been beefed up around the temple premises.
