Tirupur: Hundreds of cadres belonging to Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) on Friday laid siege to the Tirupur railway junction in protest against the recently passed Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizenship (NRC).
Tirupur: Hundreds of cadres belonging to Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) on Friday laid siege to the Tirupur railway junction in protest against the recently passed Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizenship (NRC).
Tense situation prevailed at the railway station as the protestors sat in the railway tracks and raised slogans against the Central government to repeal CAA and NRC.
Amid tight security, as the protestors gained entry into the railway station, the police forcefully pulled the protestors from the railway tracks.
Shortly, a scuffle broke out between the protestors and the police. The situation worsened after one of the party member, Shiek Farid sustained a fracture after policemen pulled him.
The police pacified the protestors by assuring treatment to the injured cadre.
All protestors were courted arrest.
