Holding a 100-meter long national flag, the Muslims formed a human chain starting from Marakadai to Variety Hall Road. Raising slogans to revoke the CAA and the NRC, a signature campaign was also launched as part of the protest.
Members of various Jamaats and Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam in Coimbatore took part in the human chain and signature campaign to repeal the Citizenship Amendment Act.
After offering prayers, members of Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam kick-started a signature campaign in town hall area.
The co-ordinators said that around one lakh signatures would be collected and sent to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu through the District Collector to revoke CAA and NRC.
The protestors also urged the AIADMK government to stand in support with the Muslims and not support CAA. "Having its roots from Dravidian ideology, the AIADMK should not be supporting the Citizenship Act which discriminates the minorities and divides people", the protestors raised slogans.
