Coimbatore: The District members of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Lawyers Association staged a demonstration here on Friday demanding to repeal the recently amended and passed Citizenship Act.
The members have also decided to pass a resolution against CAA at the General body meeting to be convened today.
Subsequently, over 100 lawyers staged a protest at the District Combined Court Complex here demanding withdrawal of CAA and NRC.
The protesters also alleged that amending CAA by excluding minorities lie Tamil Eelams and Muslims is against secularism.
Advocate Nandakumar who led the protest opined "The recently amended Citizenship Act is against the Constitution. Asking Indian citizens to prove their identity is unfair and condemnable. The central government must repeal CAA and NRC."
