Coimbatore: Founder of Maragatham Yogalaya, Gunasekaran has made an attempt to gain a world record by performing 1001 asanas in 11 days. The record event will be coming to an end tomorrow.
Coimbatore: Founder of Maragatham Yogalaya, Gunasekaran has made an attempt to gain a world record by performing 1001 asanas in 11 days. The record event will be coming to an end tomorrow.

At a meeting held at the Coimbatore Press Club on Friday, Yoga Practitioner, Gunasekaran said, "My attempt to create a World record in Yoga began in September 2019. I have performed 962 asanas in ten days starting from September 21 to 29, every day from 7 AM to 7 PM. I performed the remaining 39 asanas at Vasavi Auditorium, at Vysial street"
He noted that this was the first time 1001 asanas are being performed in 11 days. "The Elite Word Records and Authorities of India Records Academy will acknowledge the record and then present a certificate for the World record", he informed.
Prior, to this attempt he has created a record for performing Yogasanas for 43 hours continuously in 2012. In 2016, he broke his own record by performing Yogasanas for 69 hours continuously.
He further explained, "There are 80 lakh asanas in total. In order to complete the 1001 asanas, I had to perform 90 to 95 asanas each day."

Following this, he performed a few complex asanas during the press meet.
