Coimbatore: Abhinaya, daughter of MLA Aarukkutty who contested for the District Councilor post in 4th Ward, Sarkarsamakulam Union of Coimbatore District has won.
While vote counting lasted till dawn, the final results were released on Friday morning. Abhinaya got 21996 votes agaibst DMK candidate Gomathi Natarajan who got 18,694 votes.
With this, Abhinaya won by 3434 votes more than her rival DMK candidate Gomati Natarajan and has been elected as the District Councillor.
Following this, accompanied by her father, she received her certificate of victory from District Revenue Officer.
