Coimbatore: The two-phased vote counting of the Local Body Elections began yesterday morning. Due to the use of the ballot system, the final list of winning candidates in majority of the district and Panchayats were either announced late night or on Friday morning.

In Coimbatore District's Thondamuthur Panchayat Union, AIADMK candidate Pradeep, who contested for the Thondamuthur District member seat, won by over 9000 votes.
In the Panchayat Union Councillor election in Thondamuthur Union, AIADMK candidates - Maumathi Vijayakumar won in Narasipuram, Karthika won in Devarayapuram, Chithra won in Thennamannallur, Selvaraj won in Ikkarai Boluvampatti, Mohanraj won in Matvarayapuram, Kanagaraj won in Perur Chettipalayam.
It is to be noted that AIADMK candidates have won 6 out of the 9 seats for the total number of panchayat union councillors in the Thondamuthur panchayat union.
DMK candidates have won in Theethipalayam - Dhandapani, Jaisree Selvakumar in Perur Chettipalayam and Kavitha Paneer in Mathampatti.
Following this, Aarusamy, who contested for the post of Panchayat President of the Thennamanallur Panchayat Union, won by 1408 votes ahead of the DMK candidate.
AIADMK Ambi (a) Sadhanadham won by 1156 against the DMK candidate in Ikkarai Boluvampatti. Similarly, the DMK candidate who contested for the Madampatti panchayat union elections won by 1330 votes more than the AIDMK candidate.
Also, Independent candidate Bullet Kandasamy who contested for the post of Theethipalayam panchayat president has won.
Subsequently, the AIADMK celebrated the victory by bursting crackers and offering sweets to the public.
Subsequently, the winning candidates, along with their party members, performed special Poojas at Mariamman temple in Thondamuthur. They also assured the voters that all basic needs, problems and the regularising of the welfare schemes for people in Thondamuttur area will be taken up with the help of Minister SP Velumani.
They thanked Minister, SP Minister who supported and campaigned through the polls.
Meanwhile, the winning DMK candidates said that DMK's victory was a victory for democracy.
