Coimbatore: More than 1800 students from various States of the country participated in the finals of the WIZ National Spell bee competition held by English Wizard Foundation and hosted by Kumaraguru Institutions, here between December 28-29.
Coimbatore: More than 1800 students from various States of the country participated in the finals of the WIZ National Spell bee competition held by English Wizard Foundation and hosted by Kumaraguru Institutions, here between December 28-29.
Participants qualified from School level, Inter school and State level examinations consisting of written and oral rounds that were held during the academic year 2018-19 took part in the competition.
The students represented the following States of India - Tamil Nadu,Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Odisha, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Assam, Punjab, Chattisgarh, Telengana and Gujarat.
Students from 1st to 12th grade were divided into six categories. Their oral skills and phonetic inscriptions (pronunciation key) were tested. The top ten winners in each category were awarded with cash prizes, national rank certificates and trophies.
The prize details are 1st prize – Rs.10,000/-, 2nd prize – Rs.7,000/-, 3rd Prize – Rs.4,000/-, 4th – 10th – Rs.1,000/- each.
All the participating students received respective rank certificate and trophies. P.D. Sebastian, Director of English Wizard Foundation, Coordinators of different States and others were present.
