Coimbatore: Elaborate arrangements were made by the City Police at several junctions to welcome an accident free New Year 2020.
As the New Year arrived, several police officers were seen cutting cakes along with the public to assure their people friendly policing style such that police will act as Friends of People and people will become Friends of Police;
The cakes were cut at check points and camps set to nab traffic violators especially to nab drunken drivers.
At a check point near Kaniyur toll gate, IG, K. Periaiah cut cake along with the public and welcomed the New Year. And within city limits, Deputy Commissioner, L. Balaji Saravanan cut cake and distributed them to the public.
The public also appreciated the police for their tireless efforts to ensure a safe New Year.
