Tirupur: "During a vehicle inspection, Tirupur Police has seized 51 kg of Ganja worth Rs.20 lakhs on Uthukuli Road. Three persons were arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle the drugs", said Deputy Police Commissioner, Badrinarayanan at a press meet in Tirupur on Tuesday.
Tirupur: "During a vehicle inspection, Tirupur Police has seized 51 kg of Ganja worth Rs.20 lakhs on Uthukuli Road. Three persons were arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle the drugs", said Deputy Police Commissioner, Badrinarayanan at a press meet in Tirupur on Tuesday.
Based on repeated complaints of illegal sale of drugs in Tirupur district, the Police Commissioner ordered to form a special team to crack down the drug peddlers.
On Tuesday, the special team under the supervision of Deputy Police Commissioner, Badrinarayanan were involved in a vehicle inspection near Anaikaadu area on Uthukuli road.

During the vehicle check, the police intercepted two, two wheelers and found that they were smuggling several packets of ganja into the city. Upon inspection, 51kgs of ganja worth Rs.20 lakhs were seized from their vehicles.
The offenders were identified as Maayi, Tamilselvi and Rosin. The trio were arrested and remanded.
Briefing on the incident, DC, Badrinarayanan said "Intial investigations reveal that they had sourced the drugs from Andhra Pradesh."
DC Badrinaryanan congratulated the special police force for being vigilant and nabbing the culprits.
