Coimbatore: As the vote counting for the recently held local body polls (rural) held in two stages on December 27 and 30, 2019 is scheduled on January 2, 2020, a review meeting to discuss on the preparedness and safety measures to be followed during counting, was held at the District Collectorate on Tuesday.
Coimbatore: As the vote counting for the recently held local body polls (rural) held in two stages on December 27 and 30, 2019 is scheduled on January 2, 2020, a review meeting to discuss on the preparedness and safety measures to be followed during counting, was held at the District Collectorate on Tuesday.
The meeting was chaired by K. Rajamani, District Collector and District Election Officer. "All 12 vote counting centers in Coimbatore district should be provided with uninterrupted electricity supply by TNEB. Incase of a power failure, generators should be in a ready state for backup. Drinking water, toilet facilities and other amenities like refreshments and food should be provided at all counting centres", he insisted.
He noted that loudspeakers to make announcements should be available at all centres. Fire engines and first aid medical facilities should be setup at all the counting centers.
Every counting center will be equipped with four computer personnel for uploading the results on the website of the TN State Election Commission. And, Deputy Block Development Officers will supervise the counting centers.
"3753 officers have been deputed for the vote counting on January 2, 2020. Candidates and their agents should be present at the centers. Other party members or public are not allowed. No mobile phones or electronic items should be taken into the counting centers", informed District Collector K. Rajamani.
District Superintendent of Police, Sujit Kumar, District Revenue Officer Ramaduraimurugan, District Rural Development Agency Project Director Rameskumar, Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies Palanisamy, election officers and other government officers were present.

The counting for the Karamadai Panchayat Union is to be held at the Karamadai Government Higher Secondary School, Periyanaickenpalayam Panchayat Union at Ashokapuram Government Higher Secondary School, Sarkarsamakkulam Panchayat Union at Sarkarsamakulam Government Higher Secondary School, Annur Panchayat Union at K.G.Matric High School, Sulur Panchayat Union at Sulur Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Thondamuthu Panchayath Union at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Madukkarai Panchayat Union at Madukkarai Government Higher Secondary School, Sultanpet Panchayat Union, at Sulur Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kinathukadavu Panchayat Union at Telc Girls Higher Secondary School Girls Higher Secondary School, Pollachi South Panchayat Union at Municipal Boys Higher Secondary School, Anaimalai Panchayat Union at Vettaikaranpudur Government Higher Secondary School.
