Coimbatore: Tamil teacher and Poet, Abhi alias B M Abhibulla received the Vishunpuram Award for the year of 2019 here at an event held in Coimbatore on December 28.
Coimbatore: Tamil teacher and Poet, Abhi alias B M Abhibulla received the Vishunpuram Award for the year of 2019 here at an event held in Coimbatore on December 28.
Jahnavi Barua, an English writer from Assam, Malayalam poet K G Sankarapillai, Tamil authors Jayamohan, Ravi Subramaniam, Perundevi, Shwetha Shanmugam were the special guests.
The award was presented by K G Sankarapillai and Janavi Barua and as part of the event, a documentary by K B Vinodh on Poet Abhi “Anthara Nadai” was also screened.
Malayalam writer K G Sankarapillai delivering the felicitation address commended the Poet for his exemplary contribution. "He is a very calm person and his calmness can be felt in his poetry, too. Beautiful poems can be written, if the poet remains calm and composed. Abhi’s writing skills are very unique and simple yet carries a strong message."
He added that Poet Abhi voices his dissent on various issues through his poetry and interacts with the future generation.
About Vishnupuram Award
Vishnupuram Award is a literary award instituted by The Vishnupuram Ilakkiya Vattam (Vishnupuram Literary Circle), a group of readers of Tamil writer Jeyamohan. The award was named after the writer's famous novel in Tamil, Vishnupuram.
This award was initiated to honour the under-recognized pioneers and senior writers in Tamil literature. This award consists of cash award of Rs 1,00,000 and a memento, a book on the author will be published and a documentary on the awardee released during the occasion.
