Coimbatore: Alleging that 734 names are missing from the voters list, members of Ahle Sunnath Jamath have petitioned, District Collector, K. Rajamani to help them vote and also reminding the 100% voters turn out policy of the State Election Commission.

Speaking about the issue the members said, "The draft electoral roll that was released by the Waqf Board on December 21, originally had a total of1445 names. However, during the absence of the board members a revised list was stuck on Decemeber 23, without prior notification. This list had only 711 names and the date for filing nominations and elections was wrongly mentioned as January 2, 2020."

They charged that some of the members were attempting to take over the control of the administration by eliminating any opposition. "Members of the Muslim community cannot forgo their relationship with the Jama-ath and any member who has been excluded will have problems registering their wedding and obtaining no objection certificate for a place, during burial", they noted.

The members have sought the guidance of the district administration to set this issue right. Copy of the election notice No:6 of the Waqf Board and copies of orders filed in the High Court have been sent to the Chief Secretary to Government Special Division, North Tahsildar and the Commissioner of Police, they said.
