Eight people including a driver from Thrissur, Kerala were travelling in their car along the L&T Bypass road towards Coimbatore airport. While the car was nearing Chettipalayam toll gate, a tanker lorry enroute in the opposite direction and the car collided head-on, killing atleast four people in the car.
The deceased were identified as Ramesh (50), Adisha (12), Meera (37) and Rishikesh (7). Other passengers, Vipin George (43) and Niranjan (11), Raja (44) and Adira (16) who sustained grievous injuries are being treated at a private hospital.
Chettipalayam police have filed a case and are investigating.
