Coimbatore: Welcoming the 'death sentence' verdict for Santhosh Kumar, the accused in the rape and murder of a seven year old girl here, the members of Madhar Sangam who were gathered at the District Combined Court Complex in jubilation said "We are glad he has received the highest punishment."
They lauded the Justice system for expediting the case and announcing the judgement within a year of the case. They thanked Justice Radhika of Special POCSO Court for awarding capital punishment for the accused who has committed a heinous crime.
The members of Madhar Sangam however noted as the forensics report indicate involvement of another man in the case, the police should probe the issue and and punish him too.
Earlier, security was beefed up in the Court complex to ensure the accused is not being attacked by the public.
