Tirupur: A man working in a chicken shop in Tirupur was strangled to death on Thursday, after his apron got struck in a cleaning machinery. The spine-chilling CCTV footage of the man battling for his life has been released.

Elumalai from Tiruvannamalai was working in a chicken shop located on K. Ayyampalayam Pirivu on Tiruppur - Dharapuram road. On Thursday night after finishing his work, Elumalai who was alone in the shop was busy cleaning the wooden log on which meat would be cut to pieces.
While cleaning the log with a machinery, Elumalai's apron got sucked into the hand-held machinery. While, Elumalai struggled to release the tightness, both the wire and his apron strangled him. Though he managed to put the switch off, he was unable to release him from the knot.
Later, he is seen in the video taking a knife to cut the wire off his neck, but
unfortunately, the knife slipped off his hand and he collapses due to suffocation. After battling for his breath he then dies on the floor.
A brief time after the incident, the nearby shop keepers who saw him lay motionless on the floor with wires and apron strangled around his neck, alerted the police who rushed to the spot and retrieved his body.
After initial investigation, the police sent his body for autopsy to Tirupur government hospital.
To ascertain the reason for his death, the police retrieved the CCTV footages from the shop which revealed the gruesome accident.
The video has sent a caution to people to be very careful while operating machinery of any sort.
