In one such campaign in Chikkarampalayam Panchayat led by DMK Ex-MLA Arun Kumar, the contestant for the post of President promised the public of free ladders on the eve of Pongal.
The campaign rally started from Kannaarpalayam in Chikkarampalayam Panchayat and went through Karupparayan Kuttai, Chikkarampalayam and other areas.
Addressing the rural public, the DMK candidates promised to provide ladders that can be used for white-washing houses during Pongal.
Elections are scheduled in the second phase on Dec 30, for these Panchayat Unions.
