Coimbatore: Vishnupuram Tamil award for the year 2019 will be conferred to Tamil Teacher and the Poet Abhi alias B M Abhibulla. The award will be conferred on December 28 at a function to be organized at Rajasthani Sangh, R.S. Puram, Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: Vishnupuram Tamil award for the year 2019 will be conferred to Tamil Teacher and the Poet Abhi alias B M Abhibulla. The award will be conferred on December 28 at a function to be organized at Rajasthani Sangh, R.S. Puram, Coimbatore.

Vishnupuram Award is a literary award instituted by The Vishnupuram Ilakkiya Vattam (Vishnupuram Literary Circle), a group of readers of Tamil writer Jeyamohan. The award was named after the writer's famous novel in Tamil, Vishnupuram. This award was initiated to honour the under-recognized pioneers and senior writers in Tamil literature. This award consists of cash award of Rs 1,00,000 and a memento, a book on the author will be published and a documentary on the awardee released during the occasion.
The special guests to participate in the 2019 Vishnupuram award are Jahnavi Barua, an English writer from Assam, Malayalam poet K G Sankarapillai, Tamil authors Ravi Subramaniam, Perundevi , Shwetha Shanmugam and Jeyamohan.
A documentary “Andhara Nadai “Directed by K. B Vinodh on poet Abhi will be screened on the occasion. A book written reviewing the works of the poet will also be released on the occasion.
About BM Abhibulla
Abhi alais B M Abhibulla was born in 1942 at Bodinayakanur, Theni district. He has done a thesis on reviewing L.S. Rao’s novel. He has served as a Tamil teacher at Government Schools at Melur. His poems have been translated in English and Hindi namely Mounathin Noolgal (1974), Andhara Nadai (1978), Endru Ondru ( 1987), Poems by Abhi ( 2013)- four volumes of the poems have been published.
Earlier, he has been honoured with Kavikko award, Kavikkanam Award, Kavingnar Devamagal memorial award, and Sirpi literature award etc.
