Coimbatore: A five-year-old female leopard was found dead under mysterious circumstances near a tea estate in Valparai here.
Coimbatore: A five-year-old female leopard was found dead under mysterious circumstances near a tea estate in Valparai here.
The carcass of the animal was first spotted by security personnel of the Stanmore Estate in Valparai. They immediately alerted the foresters who collected the carcass and sent it to the Rottikadai Animal Rescue Centre for autopsy.
Since the area has a history of leopards hunting down cattle, foresters have sensed suspicion in the death of the animal and have sent the vital organs of the animal to Coimbatore, for further tests.
An investigation has also been initiated by foresters of Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR) to ascertain the death.
