Addressing the media at the Coimbatore International Airport on Tuesday, the Minister clarified that clear cut explanations on Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) has been provided by the Centre and the State government. However, people especially the minorities are stuck in panic due to false propaganda of the bill by fringe groups and opposition parties.
"CAA will not affect Islamic people or any other minorities. If in case there are any issues, the ruling AIADMK government will treat them as their own and support them", he informed.
"Like, late Former CM Jayalalithaa, CM Edappadi Palanisamy is keen on protecting the interests of the minorities", he said and cited their party's protest during the Triple talaq Act and allotment of Rs. 6 Crore to Haj pilgrimage.
He informed that the CM has assured that CAA will show no discrimination on Islam or Christians in Tamil Nadu.
He informed that through Kudimaramathu and alluvial soil distribution scheme, the monsoon rains have filled up a majority of the water bodies in Tamil Nadu, which is a proof that all welfare schemes by AIADMK has reached every corner of Tamil Nadu.
Commenting on the rural local body polls, the Minister opined that people hold AIADMK in high regards and the response has been very positive.
When questioned on the developmental projects in Coimbatore, he said "Shortly, Phase II of Aathupalam bridge works will commence. And, the 9.5 km long Avinashi to Chinniyampalayam bridge works will also begin, soon", the Minister said.
He added that the next phase of the airport expansion project which has been allotted Rs 75 Crore will realise, soon.
