Coimbatore: Around 50 student members of SFI, CFI and AISF were arrested here on Tuesday after they tried to lay seige at BSNL office here to condemn against CAA.
The students were stopped by the Police when they were marching towards BSNL office from railway station. Tense situation prevailed for a brief time, as the students sat on the road in front of BSNL office and raised slogans against the newly passed Citizenship Amendment bill.
The protestors apprised that fearing mass gathering of students the Tamil Nadu government had announced holiday for all colleges until Januray 2, 2020. "However, after opening of the colleges we will gather students and stage a series of protests to revoke CAA", they said.
