The Nilgiris: Slamming that DMK was solely responsible for the delay in conducting local body polls, BJP State General Secretary Vanathi Srinivasan campaigned in Kothagiri in the Nilgiris district for candidates of BJP and AIADMK who are contesting in the upcoming local body polls.

Claiming that the NDA led alliance is a winning alliance, BJP TN General Secretary stated that DMK will lose the elections as their leader MK Stalin I focussed on Citizenship Amendment Act protests instead of choosing the right candidate for rural local body polls.

She further alleged that opposition parties are unnecessarily flaring up CAA issue. "When the bill is not about Muslims living in India, Why so much commotion and angst? People are falling prey to the political stunts of the opposition parties", she accused.

"Muslims and other citizens can always live in harmony and claim their basic rights in this country. There is nothing against them", she emphasized.

"The baseless notion that our Prime Minister is trying to discriminate Muslims and deport them to detention camps is being propagated falsely by opposition parties. And, Stalin is pretending to be their saviour", she criticized.

Vanathi Srinivasan further explained on the 1947 partition which was done on religious basis. "For so many decades, Muslims in our country have been able to live in harmony with the Hindus. They have felt secure under our secular governments", she opined.

She also informed that the percentage of Hindus from 22% has reduced to 7% now, in Pakistan. She insisted that DMK leader, Stalin must update himself on these statistics and talk about it to the Muslims in the country.

Following this, she campaigned with Coonoor MLA Shanthi Ramu in Kattabettu and Aravenu areas, for candidates Kumar contesting for Naduhatti Panchayat President, Krishna Leela for Jakkanarai Panchayat President and 11th ward AIADMK member, Chitra Kala.
