Coimbatore: Corporation officials on Monday imposed fine to the canteen operating within the Police Commissioner's office here for using banned plastic bags.
During a periodic inspection on banned plastics, the officials were alerted that the canteen in Police Commissioner's Office near the District Collectorate has been using banned plastic bags.
A team of officials led by Assistant Urban Health Officer, Radhakrishnan raided the canteen at Police Commissioner's office and seized the banned plastic bags.
Subsequently, corporation officials levied a fine of Rs. 3,000 and seized the banned plastic bags.
Following the issue, the canteen at Police Commissioner's Office have put up a board saying 'No more parcels' and have requested customers to bring their own utensils to fetch parcels.
