Coimbatore: The burnt body of an engineer was recovered from his residence in Sundarapuram in Coimbatore on Sunday.
Sakthivel (42) is a resident of Kurichi Kalukkuli road near Sundarapuram, Coimbatore. He was working as a software engineer in Bangalore and had quit his job three years ago and continued to work in Coimbatore.
As Sakthivel had divorced his wife he was living alone in his apartment at Sundarapuram. It is reported that he was not in touch with his relatives or friends other than his sister from Tirunelveli.
As he did not contact her in the past six months, Sakthivel's sister grew suspicious and sent her son Dinesh to check on him. On Sunday, when Dinesh visited Sakthivel's apartment he was shell-shocked to find a half burnt corpse inside a jute sack which was dumped with coconut husks and papers.
Dinesh immediately informed the Kuniyamuthur Police who rushed to the spot with forensics staff and retrieved the body. Dinesh confirmed to the police that the body was his uncle's.

Following this, Police Deputy Commissioner Balaji Saravanan has commenced investigation. Initial reports reveal that Sakthivel might have been murdered about four months ago.
