Chennai: The rally planned by Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and its allies in Chennai on Monday to oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) of 2019 is all set to commence from Langs Garden Road, Egmore and end at Rajarathinam Stadium, going through South Cooum Road.
Chennai: The rally planned by Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and its allies in Chennai on Monday to oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) of 2019 is all set to commence from Langs Garden Road, Egmore and end at Rajarathinam Stadium, going through South Cooum Road.
The rally will be led by MK Stalin, Chief of DMK. Former Congress Finance Minister Chidambaram and many senior political leaders of DMK and its allied parties have gathered at the spot to commence the rally in which more than one lakh people are scheduled to take part.
The Madras High Court on Sunday recorded the submission of Greater Chennai City Police Commissioner A.K. Viswanathan on denial of permission for the rally against CAA by DMK. The Court ordered on Sunday that as the rally is held against police permission, the rally should be monitored through drones and the party heads holding the rally should take responsibility for any violence that is triggered.
