Coimbatore: Forge Accelerator, the incubation enterprise launched by Coimbatore Innovation and Business Incubator, catalyzed by the NSTEDB division of DST organized the iDAY- Demo Day and graduation day for the 6th cohort of ProtoSem at Forge Factory Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: Forge Accelerator, the incubation enterprise launched by Coimbatore Innovation and Business Incubator, catalyzed by the NSTEDB division of DST organized the iDAY- Demo Day and graduation day for the 6th cohort of ProtoSem at Forge Factory Coimbatore.

Dr. B.K. Krishnaraj Vanavrayar, Chairman, Kumaraguru Institutions presided over the event and felicitated the Innovation Engineers. He also motivated them to work towards achieving the vision of a 5 trillion dollar economy.
The 6th Graduation Day of Protosem began with a live demonstration of the Minimum Usable Prototypes and Product Innovations by the students which they have built over the 20-week time period.
Thiruppathy Srinivasan (Vice-President, Ather Energy), Dorai Thodla (Founder, Technology Strategies LLC), Dr.Saravanan (Dean Academics, KCT) and Kumar Sachidanandam (Founder, Ydealogy Ventures), other startup mentors, technology experts, and industry veterans witnessed the demo and evaluated the progress of the innovations.

The event also had received wide participation from parents. The demo was followed by a formal graduation ceremony with Vish Sahasranamam, CEO and Co-Founder, Forge welcoming all the guests, parents of the graduating students, faculty members of the participating student institutes and the batch of graduating students.
Dr. Lakshmi Meera, Program Director, Forge, shared the vision and evolution of Protosem over the last three years. Dinesh, Program Manager Forge elaborated on the structure of the program and presented the science behind managing product innovations.
Parents shared their excitement about the transformation that ProtoSem has brought in their children. All the guests were honoured with mementoes specially designed by the ProtoSem students.
Shankar Vanavarayar, President and Chairman, CIBI, congratulated the graduates.
About Protosem
Protosem is a first-of-its-kind, 20-week full-semester course offered as comprehensive skills and competency development program that embeds an innovation centred approach to engineering education right into the core of the engineering college.
During the program, students pursuing engineering, science, and technical courses work on real-time problem statements from Industry, Government and social sectors to co-create cost-effective technological solutions.
Since the program was instituted in 2017, over 229 students from 5 cohorts have benefitted out of the course and 62 innovative ideas have been prototyped and productized so far up to this date. From designing and prototyping an AI-based Factory Management System, e-Tractor, to Borewell Disaster BoT, the Innovation Engineers of this cohort of ProtoSem have worked on a broad range of problems from various sectors including Smart Factories, Future Mobility, and Defence.
