Coimbatore: Die-hard cat lovers who are part of the Cattery Club of Coimbatore and cat lovers from other States including Kerala and Andhra Pradesh posed with their cats at the two-day cat show held at the Hindustan College of Arts and Science on Avinashi Road.

Fluffy Cats of various breeds like Persian, Siamese, Maine Coon and British Shorthair enthralled the visitors, especially children.
"Around 150 cats from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra, New Delhi and Mumbai have registered to take part in the event. And, 20 breeds of cats including Persian, Siamese, Maine Coon and British Shorthair will be taking part in the 8th and 9th World Cat Federation International Championship Cat Show to be held at Hindusthan Arts and Science College here on December 21st & 22nd", the organisers said.
They also added that the objective of the show is to create awareness among people who believe that cats are carriers of diseases. We want to educate on how one should care for cats, health problems and how to address it.
"These days, children spend lot of time by playing games in mobiles and watching TV. Being physically inactive is harmful both physically and mentally. Hence, playing with pets can help them offset the effects of screen time", they opined.
