He took stock of the existing facilities at Mettupalayam railway station and informed that infrastructure facilities will be enhanced at the station, shortly. And, notified that elevators will be installed for ease of travel for senior citizens and differently-abled people.

He later inspected the railway tracks at the 23 location where landslides occured and also checked the stability of the newly laid tracks.
The DRM travelled on a special train from Mettupalayam and conducted his inspection.

He informed that in a bid to attract more tourists to use NMR, the southern railways has planned to introduce 'Selfies with Loco Pilot'. A pocket-friendly fee will be collected for the same, he said.

"The Coonoor to Runnymede railway service which was suspended due to poor passenger turn out has resumed service due to holiday season. And, the special train between Ooty and Ketti will continue to operate", said U. Subba Rao, DRM, Salem.
E Hari Krishnan, Divisional Commercial Manager, Hari, Divisional Manager, Mugandhan, Divisional Manager (technical), N. Pradeep, Coonoor Station Manager were present.
