Coimbatore: Claiming to be a good ward member, Periyar Mani, a candidate contesting for the Immidipalayam ward at Solavampalayam in Kinathukadavu, is campaigning by saying that he would not bribe the voters with money or liquor.
Periyar Mani, who also claims to have worked for the development of the place for 15 years, says that people would be given power to dethrone him in a year, if his promises are not fulfilled.
Other contestants in the ward that hosts 800 voters are reportedly perplexed at the election promise that he is throwing at the voters.
“I will give a bond paper signed by me to the voters who can use it to dethrone me if my work is not satisfactory,” he says during a door to door campaign.
Notably, he was responsible for making the government repair and reconstruct an abandoned public toilet in the area.
