Coimbatore: Showing their approval against the recently amended Citizenship Act, over 1000 Muslims in Mettupalayam took part in the protest called for by District United Jama-ath and Confederation of Islamic Organisations.
Coimbatore: Showing their approval against the recently amended Citizenship Act, over 1000 Muslims in Mettupalayam took part in the protest called for by District United Jama-ath and Confederation of Islamic Organisations.

The protestors gathered in from of the Mettupalayam bus stand on Friday noon and raised slogans against CAA. They urged that the centre should revoke the Act which directly targets the Islamic people. They alleged that the Act has instilled fear and panic among the minorities living in the nation.
Labelling CAA to be highly discriminatory and against the ethos of our constitution, the Islamic people raised slogans against the Citizenship Act and the Centre.
In a similar protest against CAA, hundreds of Muslims agitated in Ooty. Members of DMK and VCK also took part in the protest to show their solidarity for the cause.

Due to the protests, traffic was halted for a brief time.
