The issue surfaced recently when the death of three children on December 14 shocked the CMCH premises after they succumbed to dengue. However, their death reports had causes not relating to dengue, creating a stir.
Activists claimed that such cover ups are purposely done to give false reports on dengue cases, even as hundreds are affected by the disease around Coimbatore district.
Very recently, a 11-year-old girl S. Mithra from Rathinapuri succumbed to dengue at CMCH as she failed to respond to treatment. Though hospital staff denied that she had dengue, her parents claimed that she was being treated for having dengue symptoms.
Another parent who has requested anonymity said that "I don't know why the report says a different reason but we admitted my child at CMCH after she was diagnosed with dengue."
Meanwhile, K. Kamala (65) from Athipalayam, was admitted at CMCH with dengue symptoms succumbed, yesterday night.
Condemning the CMCH, another activist opined that "Masking real numbers of dengue deaths is done to give a credit to the Health Ministry who in turn would trumpet that dengue deaths are under control and the State has strived to bring down the death rates compared to last year."
