Coimbatore: Ahead of tomorrow's protest called for in Coimbatore by the District United Jama-ath and Confederation of Islamic Organisations, the City Police have warned that public should not be disturbed or traders be compelled to shut down shops.

Any form of violence will not be tolerated. Appropriate legal action will be initiated on those who trigger panic, distrurb the peace of the city or destroy public property, the police told.

All educational institutions, banks, shops, buses will function, as usual in the city on December 20. Anyone trying to force shops to close down or lay seige to government offices, trains and roads in support of the protest will be booked under appropriate sections, the police notified.

Calling the recently amended Citizenship Act as highly discriminatory and against the fundamentals of our constitution, the District United Jama-ath and Confederation of Islamic Organisations have called for a Black flag protest and closure of shops on December 20 in Coimbatore.

Security has been beefed up in the city and 2500 additional security has been deployed, especially at high sensitive areas.
