As day progresses, protests against CAA are getting intensified and permissions to stage demonstrations have been denied in wake of the recent clashes between the students and the police particularly at Jamia Millia Islamia University in New Delhi.
"As a matter of precaution, security has been beefed up in the district and vehicle checks are intensified", informed DIG Karthikeyan in Coimbatore on Thursday.
Taking part in an event at the District Superintendent's Office in Coimbatore to distribute e-challan machines to policemen for levying fines for violating traffic rules.
The DIG said that "Today, 112, e-challan machines have been provided to the policemen. With the introduction of 16 e-challan kits in June, 66,000 traffic violation cases have been registered. The e-challan machines makes it easy to collect fine from traffic violators."
Commenting on the CAA protests, the DIG said "In a bid to ensure safety, vehicle checks have been intensified at all entry and exit points of the district."
Superintendent of Police, Sujit Kumar and other Police officials were present.
