The Nilgiris: Tourists and the townsfolk ran in panic after two Indian gaurs locked horns near Coonoor Sims Park, on Wednesday.
A herd of gaurs were spotted near Sims Park on Wednesday morning. While the herd slowly moved towards the forest area, two adult gaurs stayed put and began to lock horns in front of Sims Park.
The two gaurs ferociously stormed against each other for a brief time leaving the tourists and public in shock. Some public were seen recording videos and clicking pictures of the rare sight in their cell phones.
"These days, gaurs straying into residential areas and streets of Coonoor town has become a common phenomenon. For the first time, we are seeing gaurs lock horn on the streets", said a street hawker near Sims Park.
