Coimbatore: Showing their disapproval against the Citizenship Amendenment Act (CAA), the students of Government Arts College here resorted to a novel way of protest by playing bands and songs against the ill-effects of CAA.
More than 100 students of the Government Arts College involved in a sit-in protest at their college and raised slogans against the centre for enacting the Citizenship Act.
They protested by playing bands and raising slogans against the BJP government. They sung songs against the Centre and accusing Prime Minister Modi and Home Ministe, Amit Shah for introducing anti-democratic policies.
The protesting students questioned as to why Islamic people and Eelam Tamils are deliberately not included in CAA. This move is highly undemocratic and against the fundamentals of our constitution, they alleged.
Despite a holiday being announced until January 2, 2020, the students apprised that they would continue protests until necessary changes are made in the CAA.
