Suresh who works as a plumber in the city had left to Trichy for some personal work with his wife and younger son. Meanwhile, he had left two of his daughters, a ten-year-old and a 8-year-old at his home in Gandhipuram, 5th Street here.
According to reports, the mother of the children had called home and instructed the kids to lit lamps in the house on account of Karthigai Deepam. The children under no adult supervision lit several lamps outside and inside the home. Accidentally, the lamp lit in the bedroom triggered fire and in no time the fire spread to the entire house.
Seeing the fumes, the neighbours alerted the fire department who rushed to the spot and doused the fire. Luckily, as the children were playing outside they escaped from the fire accident.
The Rathinapuri house have registered a case and are investigating.
