Coimbatore: A student fractured his leg after he tried to climb his school wall which collapsed on him.
Students from 1st to 5th grade are studying at Government Elementary School located at 80ft road, near Olympus in Ramanathapuram, Coimbatore. A Government Boys Higher Secondary School is situated right behind this school.
Today, a student from the boys higher secondary school tried to jump the wall of the elementary school and broke his leg after the wall partially collapsed on him.
The student has been admitted to the government hospital for treatment. Hearing the news, the School Education Department officials visited the school and inspected the wall. "We have ordered to remove the tree which is close to the wall. The tree has led to a major crack in the wall", the officials said.
Commenting on the incident, the teachers of the elementary school stated that half-yearly exams are underway at both schools. The student from the higher secondary school has jumped the wall to rush home after the exams. As the wall collapsed, he was injured. Works are underway to repair the wall.
