Coimbatore: With the State Election Commission announcing the dates for the rural local body elections, G. Govindaraj, Election Officer visited the voting and counting centres in Coimbatore, on Monday.
Coimbatore: With the State Election Commission announcing the dates for the rural local body elections, G. Govindaraj, Election Officer visited the voting and counting centres in Coimbatore, on Monday.
Govindaraj who serves as the Registrar of Cooperative Associations, inspected the arrangements made in Periyanaickenpalayam Panchayat Union, Karamadai Panchayat Union and SS Kulam Panchayat Union along with other Government officials.
Earlier to the inspection, he attended a review meeting at the Coimbatore District Collectorate.
Visiting the polling booth at Ashokapuram High School in the Periyanaickenpalayam Panchayat Union, he enquired about the necessary arrangements made including ramps, electricity and drinking water facilities.
He also visited remote polling stations in Panchayat Union Primary Schools at Nanjundapuram, Chinnathadagam, Tholampalayam, Chikkarampalayam and Anaikatti Residential School and urged the officials to make necessary arrangements for tribals who travel through forests to vote.
He also directed the officials to make sure that construction material are cleared prior to the polling day and ordered the Head Masters of the schools to hand over the schools to the respective electoral officers, two days ahead of the polling day.
