Coimbatore: A 62-year-old differently-abled sportsman has petitioned the District Collector for financial support.
V.V Francis (62) hails from Sundarapuram, Coimbatore. At the age of five, he suffered from fever and lost functionality of his extremities. Yet his passion for sports and determination made him excel in various sporting activities like swimming, wheelchair competition, javelin throw, sit-down cricket and basketball. He won several national and international accolades including 'Best Player of the Year' award at a competition held in Malaysia.
Wearing his medals and carrying his certificates, Francis with much hope came to the District Collector seeking monetary help for his livelihood. He also said that any help from the district administration will motivate many others like him.
