Coimbatore: Over hundred school students and women took part in the free medical camp organised in Valparai in Coimbatore district, today.
The camp was organised by Regional Resource Centre District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC) at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Valparai.
In a bid to detect illness and other health issues among children, free medical camps are being held by DEIC across the district, especially among the tribal students.
The students and public who took part in the camp underwent various tests including Eye, ENT check ups and ECG. The Doctors thoroughly examined the children and apprised the parents on their health condition. They were also provided with medication and follow up referrals to government hospital.
In 2014, a sum of RS. 25 lakhs was sanctioned to DEIC, under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram, a scheme being implemented under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) aimed at early diagnosis and treatment for children.
