Coimbatore: As many as 28 elephants participated in the inauguration ceremony of the 12th annual rejuvenation camp for temple elephants held at a Thekkampatti in Mettupalayam today.
Coimbatore: As many as 28 elephants participated in the inauguration ceremony of the 12th annual rejuvenation camp for temple elephants held at a Thekkampatti in Mettupalayam today.
The camp was inaugurated by K. Phanindr Reddy, Commissioner of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Board (HR&CE)
The 48 days camp was shifted to Mettupalayam in 2012 citing transportation and climate difficulties for the elephants.
The elephants are to be treated for ailments, offered healthy food and allowed to socialise with other female elephants during the period to help boost their physical and mental health.
