Coimbatore: Ahead of the local body polls, an all party meeting was held on Saturday at the District Collectorate. District Collector/District Election officer, K. Rajamani chaired the meeting in which representatives of various political parties took part.

The meeting also discussed on enforcing law and order and security arrangements during the elections.
The first phase of polling on December 27 will include Madukkarai, Kinnathukadavu, Pollachi (North), Pollachi South and Anaimalai, the second phase will include Karamadai, Annur, SarkarSamakulam, Periyanayakanpalayam, Sulur,
Thondamuttur and Sultanpet.
"As model code of conduct is in place, all political parties are requested to abide by the rules and take appropriate measures to remove posters, banners and wall hangings in rural areas. Political parties must cooperate fully in complying with 100% of the Electoral Code of Conduct", the Collector urged.
He also apprised that 214 polling booths in 84 schools in 10 districts, Madukkarai and Sarkar Samakulam in Coimbatore district are identified as sensitive booths. Hence, steps have been taken to appoint and supervise by-election supervisors.
Also, to register complaints to the district election office a 24-hour toll-free number, and an Election Control Room will also be functioning round-the-clock to enable public report violations. Accordingly, people can contact 0422-2301587 or toll-free number 1800 599 6000 for complaints.
"As advised by the Tamil Nadu Electoral Commission 18 flying squads are appointed for 12 circles in the district. Similarly, a Zonal Officer has been assigned to 10 to 15 polling booths for a panchayat union and 119 committees have been appointed to 12 panchayats", the Collector said.
He noted that the final candidates' list will be finalized on December 19 and subsequently, printing of ballots will be carried out. Yellow ballots will be printed for District Panchayat Members, green for Panchayat Union Ward Members, pink for Grama Panchayat Board Chairman and white and blue for Grama Panchayat Ward Members.
Officers who work on the ballots are chosen systematically in the form of randomization using computers. Training for selected officers will be held on December 15, 21, 26 and 29, he said.

District Police Superintendent, Sujit Kumar, District Revenue Officer Ramathurai Murugan, District Rural Development Agency Program Director Ramesh Kumar, Co-ordinator of Co-operative Societies, Palanisamy and other officials took part.
