Coimbatore: The annual winter wildlife census at the Anamalai Tiger Reserve is all set to kick start in four ranges starting from December 15, Sunday.
Volunteers and foresters who are to participate in the programme were given an orientation programme at the Attakkatti Interpretation Centre in Valparai. Around 230 volunteers and foresters will be participating in the event.
The volunteers were taught how to ascertain animal numbers using rake mark, scratch marks, animal droppings, direct sightings and pug marks.
The census would be carried out in Pollachi, Topslip, Valparai and Manampalli forest ranges in Valparai division.
