Tirupur: An elderly couple allegedly committed suicide in Tirupur on Saturday. Investigations reveal that the couple were dejected by the unwillingness of their children in taking care of them.
Tirupur: An elderly couple allegedly committed suicide in Tirupur on Saturday. Investigations reveal that the couple were dejected by the unwillingness of their children in taking care of them.
Kalimuthu (80) and Kappathal (75) from Pappampatti, Siddhanayakanpalayam in Coimbatore district were survived by three girl children. All three are married and living in different places close by Pappampatti.
In the recent times, the couple were said to be in a lonely state and have expressed to the neighbours that they no longer can take care of themselves.
On Thursday, the couple informed their neighbours that they were leaving to a hospital and would come back by night. As the couple did not return even the next day, the neighbours alerted their daughters who along with the locals searched for them.
Shockingly, they found the bodies of the elderly couple at a canal near Kullampalayam in Kamanayakanpalayam in Tirupur district.
The bodies were recovered in the presence of the police and were sent for autopsy to Tirupur Government hospital.
