The debut trip of the one-day city tour was jointly inaugurated by District Forest Officer, Venkatesh. District Tourist Officer, Aravind Kumar and Deputy District Tourist Officer, Sathish Kumar.
In a joint press release by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Board and Hotel Tamil Nadu in Coimbatore branch, T. Udayashankar, Manager of Hotel Tamil Nadu said "The TN Tourism Development Board was started in 1968 with the objective of promoting local tourism and tourist attractions to people from other states and countries. As a part of this effort, one-day trips in Coimbatore district have been started in a coordinated effort with TN Tourism Development Board."
He added that similar one-day trips have been advised to other districts also.
The day trips in Coimbatore will commence from December 14, Saturday. This will include six places -- Aliyar Dam, Monkey Falls, Valpaarai Balaji Temple, Solaiyar Dam, Nallamudi, Poonjolai and Koozhangal River. The trip will end in the night upon arrival at Hotel Tamil Nadu campus. The tariff for the same has been fixed at Rs.1,155.
Likewise, trips starting from Gandhipuram to Ooty and Baralikadu is fixed at Rs.1,200.
To enjoy a traditional tribal meal along with a coracle ride in the Bhavani river and an adventure trek for a day would cost Rs.850.
And, local trips to Coimbatore Forest Museum or TNAU, Marudhamalai, Kovai Kutralam, Isha Yoga Center, Poondi, Vellingiri temple is fixed at Rs.800.
All tourists would be provided with breakfast, tea and snacks, and lunch free of cost.
