Coimbatore: A two-day conference for students pursuing Chartered Accountancy is being organized by ICAI and jointly hosted by Coimbatore Chapter of Southern Indian Regional Council of ICAI and South Indian Chartered Accountants Students Association.

The conference commenced on December 13 and is being held PSG IMSR Auditorium.
Addressing the students, G.Ramaswamy, Past President, ICAI and also the Chief guest for the conference motivated the CA aspirants to enhance and strengthen their knowledge in the subject.
He noted that around 1200 CA students from various parts of the district have taken part in this conference. As part of the conference, students will be presenting papers on all the technical matters like Accounting standards, corporate laws, budget, tax, Insolvency Bankruptcy Code etc.,
Explaining on the exposure of CA aspirants on modern day advancements in auditing and CA, Auditor G.Ramaswamy said “The current generation students are far better than those who were before them. A.I. is taking over many professions. As far as accounting profession is considered, it deals with facts and evidences. So once it is recorded in the form of a data, it becomes an evidence globally under Information Technology Act. ICAI has made it mandatory for CAs to have UDIN (Unique Document Identification Number) to identify their documents, and the institute is bringing out UDIN for CAs.”
He further briefed that, similarly on the technical side, 'Technology Training Program' is organized for the students to keep themselves updated. The students are taught how to conduct an audit using latest technologies.
Talking about GST audits, he said "GST audit could be conducted only by CAs because it involves lot of complexities. Apparently, GST has increased the scope for CAs. In today’s scenario, a woman who has cleared CA and knows about the laws can excel well."
During the program, the speakers revealed that India needs 2-3 lakh CAs. And, ICAI has made it easy to study International Taxation. By clearing a few exams, CAs over here can become members in Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
By clearing exams, they can also become members in global CA Institutes. It was also conveyed that SIRC has joined hands with government of Tamil Nadu to organize programs in schools to create awareness among school students, a release from ICAI noted.
