Coimbatore: The State-run elephant rejuvenation camp for the temple elephants of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry is all set to begin at the Thekkampatti village in Mettupalayam here starting from Sunday.

As many as 30 elephants from various temples and mutts are expected to participate in the camp organised by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Board (HR&CE).
K. Phanindra Reddy, Commissioner of HR&CE would inaugurate the camp, on December 15, Sunday. Meanwhile, villagers of Thekkampatti have raised concern over the camp as they claim that it may attract wild elephants to the area.
The 48-day-long annual camp would end in January 31, 2020.
